Acerbis Hand Guards
The hand guards arrived today.
I know these are more light duty than others prefer but I'm personally not out to do Dakar or outback Alaska anytime soon. I'm far more interested in blocking the array of dragonflies and huge carpenter bees we have here, along with the occasional brush from trail riding or dirt roads. I have these on about everything and they are inexpensive, easy to install, come complete, and so far they've done what I want them to. I was going to gamble and order the blue insets and lettering to match the striping....but what would the odds of a perfect match be? Slim to none??? Bar end sliders are next.

Love the handguards Are those the new longer bars or the stock?

2LZ.. man that looks good. Could you paint insets blue yourself? I assume you are talking about the black lettering and the lattice portions. Still it looks neat. Might not work, may be too farmer John looking after you finish.

do you mind shooting some pics of the installation brackets ... I'm considering ordering a set. I'm not all that thrilled with the CSC set.

It's just one mount arm (all hardware included) that's kinda flexible. I have yet to snap one out of the four pair I have. Probably why I keep ordering them...but again, I'm no Spring Chicken and don't do the things or ride like I used to.......

Aren't they bright? The low beams out a ton of light to the sides too. Really lights up the shoulder.

The Acerbis stuff is really good. Great quality. Even though it is a one point mount, the plastic is tougher than the one CSC offers. Which is really a Moose Racing handguard rebranded.

2LZ ... Thanx for the photo! I more interested in a windbreak for my hands than anything. Do you mind posting a link to the model and where you bought them?

The thing I do like about the one piece mount over the more super-heavy duty models (since I'm not doing Dakar) is the fact that they are flexible and do bend with impacting shrubs, etc... They do the forgiving instead of pushing the bars. They flex and you keep going straight. For what I need, that's just fine. As you can see, they come in a bunch of color options too. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Rode it! Now that I can walk and ride again, put a couple hundred miles on. Keeping it below 5k is tough as that's about 48-50 mph...but that's ok. I can't believe how smooth the engine is for a thumper. Wow. Thankfully I've had no issues so far. Brakes bedded in nicely and all is well. I did change my oil at 80 miles or so. No shavings noted, just some sludge on the drain plug. I'm really liking this thing.

TheycallmeD,
Nice job with those led luggage lights. When you are out in the middle of nowhere they come handy for sure. Safe travels! It's a great ride. Been through there myself. |
