Hawk, carb, sprockets, air box, new user,
I'm a new user to China riders. I got my hawk recently, i have owned a few other bikes. So far I'm impressed with the hawk. I've made a few mods added 17-45 sprockets. Cut into my Air box and snipped the sides and turned my blinker noise off thanks to motocheese Added new clutch and breaks. Added new speedometer. I have never changed or modified a carb, I want info with anyone who has done this on the hawk? Also I know with my crf (before being smashed) the front sprocket fit snugly with hardly any wiggle, but with hawk(and many other bikes) it wiggles just a little bit. Is this normal for the hawk? Also had it registered just fine here in Utah any Utah riders out there?
I've been reading a few threads everyone seems super cool, I'm glad to start sharing my journey with my first China bike. |

welcome to the board lots of info here on the hawk AND, a LOT of the tutorials on the incoming csc 250tt will also apply.the answers to most of your questions should come up w a relevant search. Have fun

Front sprocket wiggle seems par for the bikes. I was just thinking now, pondering if a bed of silicon would be helpful. The accel then engine braking slaps it around some, and I'm sure there is some wear. The silicon might act like a cush hub (maybe)

I've heard of one person using silicon on a Ktm before, but it kinda frightens me todo so. I'm damn sure not going to be the first one on the hawk todo so haha. But it might work, but good to know that it seems normal for a little wiggle. There is surprising not a lot of info out there, besides on this site. And even that is all trial and error.

Welcome to the forum and China Bikes. The counter shaft is hardened, so the wear will be to the sprocket. You will replace the sprocket due to normal chain/sprocket wear before the slop at the counter shaft/sprocket becomes a problem. Chain lube or grease when assembled should slow the wear to the shaft/sprocket contact area. Enjoy.

For the carb, some people have drilled out the tamper proof screws and allot have gone the Mikuni VM26 route (like me when I get my pro circuit exhaust and header on and my uni air filter).

Honestly I haven't seen that video. Maybe I'll give it a try. I've just never messed with the carb before, done lots of other mods but always strayed away from the carb. Possibly for the risk of messing the bike up. But I would like to get the hawk to run comfortably around 70mph this might not be possible, but with all the mods I'm sitting at about 60ish so carb is the next option.
