Fuse panel installation
I did not want a bunch of wires hanging off my battery so I installed a Fuse Panel to organize them. I had used a Fuzeblock on my F800GS and was pleased with in, but I decided to use a Eastern Beaver Fuse Panel this time. Two deciding factors were higher circuit amp capacity and that the relay for switched power was external to the Fuse Panel. I had no problems with the relay on the fuzeblock, and I had to find a place for the relay on this bike.
Both of these units give you switched and unswitched circuits. Here's a photo of the installation: I was hoping to put the panel in the area the pink arrow points to, but it was too big, with no room to access the wire connections. So it got moved to the back, under the rear seat. I mounted it with Dual-Lock which is much better than Velcro (available from EB). I had ordered the short wire set for my original location plan and had to lengthen the wiring. I suggest the 18" kit. The blue arrow points to where I stuffed the relay. The pink oval is the main fuse for the block. The green oval is a fuse holder. The small black wire coming to the bottom is a switched +12V. I used this for the relay signal. I used a small Posi-Tap PTA2022- select this option if ordering from EB. The yellow oval is the fuse on the SAE pigtail for my battery charger and tire pump; I left it there because I need the length to get the connector where I wanted it - near the passenger footpeg. The blue oval shows where I routed that wire; I realize that was a mistake because it will interfere with removing that tray. I will re-route it with the other wires. I also installed a coax plug for my heated gear; I had enought wire so I removed the fuse that came on it. It runs to the front of the seat, poking out between the seat and the tank. Both of these connectors are to un-switched circuits. On the switched circuits I have my GPS and heated grips. In both cases my wires were not long enough so I had to splice on extra. I am a fan of Posi-Conns - The green arrow points to a pair of them. The aux lights (LED driving lights) were installed by CSC and wired to the handlebar aux switch. The Fuse Panel has a label where you can write the name of what's on each circuit.

Excellent idea. I hadn't considered buying a pre-made fuse block with relays. I see that EB also has a three circuit kit, which would do nicely for me.
