Fuel injection makes a big difference for emissions. Stihl is making fuel injection chainsaws.

Forum member AtomicWedgie has a fuel injected two stroke Aprilia SR50 scooter, and it rips! I had it up to over 50mph.

NGK built a 2 stroke along the lines of the GM 2 stroke supercharged diesel...
( GM 471 / 671 / 871.. 471 = 4 cyclinder/71 cubic inchs per cyclinder) were basicly a 2 stroke built like a 4 stroke... ie... no transfur ports & the crank case is filled with oil.. so the crank & bore are spash lubed.. only have inlet & exhuast ports.. the fuel/air is forced in from a supercharger.. exhuast gas is pushed out by the incoming fuel/air from the supercharger.... PS.. google the GM 2 stroke diesel to see how they work.. were commonly refured to as a "Jimmy" were very popular in small fishing boats.. ..

WW2 design. We had the old left over mike boats while I was in the navy. In the neighborhood of 70 feet long with a pair of 671 engines. Could haul a tank to the beach in them. We used them as tugs. Navy ran them at around 180 degrees and some where around 2000 rpm and battle speed was about 400 rpm higher. When the surplus engines were sold for fishing boats they ran them at 260 degrees and at least 3000 rpms and they held together just fine. One super tough engine, oh and the fishing boats got way better economy running them 80 degrees hotter.
