Please keep us updated regarding the cycling/backpacking tent, Cheesy.

Several manufacturers sell large hoop tents which self deploy, but all of them pack into a 30-inch hoop. The Catoma EBNS system, shown in posts #5 and #6, is a one-man shelter sold to the United States Marines, U.S. Army, et cetera, and it packs to 14-inch hoop.

That trailer looks like a terrific choice. Does the dinette slide out?

The walk-around queen is an excellent idea, and is what sold Mrs. Weldangrind and I on ours. The issue we have with ours is the bathroom size, but that's offset by the huge window in the back, where your bathroom would be.

Do you have an option for a large oven? It makes all the difference, if you ever want to cook a turkey in there. We did that at Thanksgiving, and it was indeed the best turkey we've ever had.

I just realized that I'm hijacking this thread. Cheesy, if you move forward with the trailer, please start a new thread.

If you can get the same trailer with a slide out for not much more money you need to do so. It adds so much more 'openness' to the overall feel of the trailer and will make it much more enjoyable. Well worth the added cost.

Thanks for the update Spud! I will definitely have to look into this prior to the trek back from CA picking up the RX3!

I just got back from a trip to Grand Teton National Park. Both the RX3 and my Catoma Lone Rider tent worked great.

The Catoma Lone Rider has two walls. The tent has an inner mesh wall which is suspended from the outer rain fly. The tent is described at the CatomaOutdoor.com website.

Here are a couple more photographs I took at the campsite. The tent has one small, but effective vestibule. You can enter or exit the tent from both sides.
