Head Scratching One of Those Days

I've been putting off taking down a dead pine for the past year, mainly hoping for Mother Nature to do the job for me. Well, she thumbed her nose at me so I decided I'd better do it and get it done. Mom must have split a gut watching me.

First, the pine turned out to be a tad stronger than I anticipated. Plan was to have it drop into the crotch of my Locust tree, expecting the top 6 ft of the pine to snap when it hit. Yeah, right. This is what I ended up with.

Then I got smart(or so I thought)and wailed on it with a sledge. That didn't go as planned either.

Finally, it took some Jeep power to drag it down.

Probably will end up with about 1/4 cord from this one.

Burning that tree will feel so much more earned.

That's an impressive property.

Thanks, Weld. Be advised, though, that it is mostly Creeping Charlie and Dandelions.
