Smart Phone Versus Dumb Phone
I admit it; I own a dumb phone. I don't text, and I do all my computing at home. Therefore, I just want a simple phone for talking with others. I have felt good about this arrangement; then I saw this Dilbert cartoon.

Nothing wrong with a dumb phone. I use the google search function all the time and being able to send pictures of junk is nice.

I've had a BB for several years now, and I won't go back to a regular phone. I can't tell you how many times the phone has been a useful tool for finding locations, searching Google, taking pics and video...

Once you get a smart phone you won't know how you were able to survive with out one. If you just need to look something up quickly you can do so immediately and don't have to turn on your computer. Thats save lots of energy for our planet!

Getting a SPOT tracker is less expensive and more effective than relying on any cell phone, either dumb, or smart. I think it might be time for me to purchase a SPOT tracker and service plan. https://findmespot.com/en/

You need to file a pre ride plan here so that we know when you are gone. If you don't start posted again we alert someone for you.

Thank you for you kind offer, Allen. You are a good friend.
I am very fortunate that my Christian Brother Andy keeps track of me. However, I frequently ride into areas without cell phone coverage. A SPOT tracker would allow me to summon help and communicate my precise position from anywhere, since it connects with low-Earth-orbit (LEO) satellites, instead of cell phone towers.

Here's a short video showing how the SPOT tracker works.
