tao tao 125, electrical issues
I bought my kids a tao tao 125 for Christmas last year. Besides replacing the starter, it's been a good little atv. Yesterday I went to start it after leaving it on my trickle charger for a few hours. When I turn the key, the neutral light comes on, but the lights don't come on and the solenoid doesn't click. I checked for loose wiring, but found nothing. On another note, I can't seem to locate the fob either.
Any help would be appreciated. |

Do your lights run off battery power or off the stator?
I thought most lights run off stator power when the engine is running only |

I can't remember if they come on only when it's running. Either way, I can't get it to turn over.

My guess is that the battery is done. Can you connect another battery with booster cables?

I'll check it today. I'll jump it with my truck and see what it does.

Make sure the truck is not running.

jumping battery
yes do not try to jump start with a major truck or car battery... the battery in the atv is usually 50 - 90 amp ( unless a larger 150 & up... then about 200 amp ) this could blow the battery up... I have had customers do this .. and show me the battery... the top is blown off .. I always say to use a riding lawnmower or other atv.. to do this.. about the same size battery for safety.. most of the time starting problems are the battery... rather than getting into wiring an d other open heart surgery to find this problem.. start off small.. battery dead or ?? just because it says 12-13 volts does not mean it has AMPS to turn it over.. you can always jump the solenoid and then jump the starter before you start to remove stuff...
