ZongShen LZX-250-5 Zip Star in UK!!!
Hello from the Nottingham in the UK!!
I want to downsize my bike and was thinking about this little cruiser - http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/Cars-Motor...&_nkw=zongshen Looks in fairly good condition (apart from the exhaust which has a bad case of flaky chrome) and it's cheap enough too. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on what I need to check out or good mods please? Thank you in advance, Andy |

looks good to me not sure about the price as i'm in the states low enough miles so long as you dont smell a strong oil scent or see smoke from the exhaust and it rides well you know it hasn't been ridden and put up wet i'd ask for what i call a 6 month leak warranty as in if it leaks oil in the first 6 months of you having it they fix the leak

Thanks for that, engine is sweet, no knocks or rattles. I converted the price and it comes out just over $1500.

That's a nice V-Twin, 250cc engine. Zongshen manufactures good engines. My Zongshen 200GY-2 has run for almost 56,000 miles (90,000 km).
It has been a while since we discussed this particular motorcycle, but I seem to remember it has a very good reputation. You might want to search these forums for "Zongshen Storm 250" to find more information.

If the price is reasonable in you market, I would give this motorcycle strong consideration.

My Zongshen 200GY-2 has a faithful copy of the currently manufactured, Yamaha, TW200 motorcycle. My Zongshen engine is very well manufactured, and it is very convenient to get Yamaha replacement parts for this engine. I have rebuilt the top end of my Zongshen engine, and it was very convenient for me to purchase Yamaha pistons, piston rings, gaskets, et cetera.
If this Zongshen engine is a faithful copy of the Yamaha, Virago 250 engine, you will be getting an excellent motorcycle for a fraction of the price of a Yamaha.

i'de buy it but i'm a better then most shade tree maniac's when it comes to looking at things and figuring out who made it and where it was made freaks my dad out when i look at something and know right where it was made but if you know how to do the general maintenance and trouble shooting its a good bike keep extra CDI's around as it doesn't matter who i talk to Chinese cdis sucks for life span....

Thank you for all that! Spud, very intesresting reading and poignant also. Think I'd run it stock for the summer months then set to wintertime to go down the bobber road. Reckon just removing the pillion pad and sissy bar would tidy the lines up no end though. That exhaust would have to go too, strange that the rest of the machine is so tidy while the exhaust is so crusty. Need to let the v breathe anyway! Think I'm gonna go for it chaps!
