A warm(ish) cloudy ride along the Mighty Columbia River!

The weather was nice after work on Saturday so Roger and I took to the hills on the motocrossers!

The Beast enjoying a view of the Mighty Columbia after a rocky hillclimb.

In this pic I look like I have hair. Since this it what I look like in the mirror I was, incorrectly, assuming I was not bald...

Sadly this pic Roger took shows otherwise.

Roger and Hannibal are King Of The Hill!

The Beast KNOWS there are sturgeon in there... 8)

I LOVE this bike, although after riding Roger's KX, as mighty as the YZ is, I must say, it feels almost mild. The KX is so powerful and SO aggressive it it almost hazardous to my health! 8O

I do have nice places to ride locally. I have a wide choices of local rides where I don't need a trailer, and a few I can get by without a license plate.

For longer or more scenic (ie, mountains) I have to travel to the Blue Mountains (a western ridge of the Rocky's, about 50 miles to the east) or to the Cascade Mountains (the Olympic Range) about 70 miles to the west).

Still, Idaho has more extensive riding, and California has better weather. Everything is a comprimise in life. :wink:

It's too cold now to ride in Idaho.

On the dirt bikes if we bundle up we are OK.

Street bikes require electric clothing due to the higher speeds and greater windchill effect. :?

People ask, "Why do you ride in the cold when you have a car?"

I'd rather freeze on a bike than be warm in a cage.

I'd like the Harley people say, "If I had to explain you wouldn't understand." :wink:

The corolla heats up pretty fast.

Being out on a dirt bike in the winter isn't so bad. The street gets pretty cold without the gear.

We get such a workout on the dirtbike, and the speeds are relatively low so we shed layers fast even in sub-freezing temps.

I can't ride off road because the U.S.F.S. and BLM trails are closed for the winter. :( In addition, the snow is too deep. :roll: However, I enjoy viewing your photos, and I'm glad you guys are riding, Doc.

Thanks for posting these pics. This is nice to look at when I can't get out and ride. I like a good Yamaha. Especially blue ones. The only Yammer we own right now is a 50 horse 2 stroke outboard motor. Puts fish in the freezer. :wink:
