tracking number

I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this. Sorry if its not.
When do frieght companies generate tracking numbers?
When its shipped, or when it reaches a terminal?
I ordered a bike from saferwholesale and was told it was in transit to me, but they haven't got tracking number yet. I just got off the phone with them. How do they know its in transit if they don't have tracking number? Hmmm.....
Any time I have ordered something that was shipped ups or fedex I got the tracking number immediately.
I'm beginning to think that I'm being ripped off

This topic can either go in this forum or Dealer and Distributor Discussion. Would you like me to move it for you?

Did the seller tell you who the carrier is? There will be a waybill that is filled out before the bike is even picked up. If you can find the waybill number and the carrier name, you have somewhere to start.

With the larger shipping companies, a tracking number is usually generated as soon as the scan of the waybill is in the system. I expect that smaller companies don't have that kind of tech.

I have heard of similar issues from Safer Wholesale and similar places but as I recall everyone got thier bike.

I don't believe we have ever had a report of anyone getting ripped off here.
