My Triton - now long gone:-( Pics for Weldangrind!
Hi
A while back I mentioned my old Triton and Weld asked for some pics - Here are the only two I have of it (was nearly 30yrs ago now!). Spec Was: Slimline feather bed Pre-unit 650 T110 built to T120 Bonnie spec (twin amals, E3134 cams, 9 stud head. 9:1 Comp Pistons, Morgo oil pump) Triumph Slick shift box Central Oil tank / battery holder Borani Rims .... pauses to shed tear... Lyta tank Clipons Girling shocks. Chronometric clock Long Alternator chaincase Went pretty well - 110 two up on one occasion - with the girl who is still my wife on the back! Sold it to buy stuff for the first house we bought together. I later built a Tribsa that I actually preferred the handling on... Frog |

Lovely motor.
I especially like the tank and the performance mods. 8) I bet you miss it, but you still have the girl and nowadays thats a BIG accomplishment! I miss my BSA but I am VERY glad I don't have to worry about maintaining it anymore. I don't regret my decision to sell it.

Thanks Fastdoc.
Yes, Bike and the wife both gorgeous! It was not really ideal as my only form of transport as it was high maintenance. But on a twisty road there's not much to beat the feel and the sound of a well tuned brit twin on full chat. I do miss it - with the tank off I could lift the entire bike by the top frame rails... 100+mph was a proper ton up - skimpy tyres, flies in your teeth and a single leading shoe front brake if things went pear shaped 8O Frog |

Thanks for the pics! 8) To hit the ton two-up is impressive.
I've not heard of a TriBSA, although I'm getting the picture. Pics of that beast?

This is the only pic I have of the TriBSA- and before I had fully sorted the aesthetics! (that front mudguard is just WRONG!). This was built on an BSA A10 frame with a 650 T110 motor rebuilt to standard spec - softer than the Triton engine but easier to keep in tune (single carb!) and quite pleasant if less fast. I really liked the handling on this bike. The Triumph conical hub 2LS front brake was rubbish most of the time - set it up and it would work really well for about 20 stops. Frog |

Thanks again for the pic. I really like the bum stop seat; no two-up riding with that setup.
So, you had a Triumph front end on the BSA frame, or just a Triumph front hub? Was the BSA front hub difficult to find?

Hi Weld,
Triumph Wheel and forks in a BSA triple tree machined so the stanchions would fit. I could have called it a TriNorBsa - had the very nice Norton gearbox! Frog |
