New Toy
Well, I sold my chinabike and got this GS500F. I sure miss the old bike but this goes down the road a little better and is pretty easy to work on. They are cheap to boot. Biggest gripe so far is the seat. It's easy on the hams (unlike the lifan) but tends to smash up the twig-n-berries because of the forward leaning seating position. I'm catching up with fastdoc on getting a deal. I picked this up for $1700 minty with only 4300miles on it.

Ha when I opened this and saw the picture my first thought was "wow they're starting to make the china bikes look a lot better!"
THe GS500 is a very good bike. I know a lot of people who get them and EX500's as beginner's bikes before they step up to a dedicated sportbike and they never let them go. Be sure to hit up gstwins and tell them I sent you! It won't get you any kudos...or me any, either...but I always wanted to tell someone to tell someone that I sent them.

Great deal on that bike! Looks very clean.
Your boys will get used to it after a little while, with no permanent damage, as proven by my 4 kids... You think the GS is bad, try riding a Yamaha R1 or Ducati. Ouch.

Last R1 I rode was about a year ago. I'm in very good shape for an old bastard (47) and that seating position was miserable. I like sportbikes and have owned several very high performance ones and that R1 was intolerable. :x
Didn't keep me from going over 140 on it at the airport though.

I didn't say how much over.... 8)
4,400 foot runway. I was unsure how much braking distance I needed and lost my nerve and played it safe and shut down early. I don't remember what gear I was in. Maybe 3rd or 4th.

I had the GS up to 90. I read it will do 115mph. Funny thing is I can get it up to 85 in 4th gear (it's a 6 speed). Either 4th is really long or it just hits the wind wall at 115 without enough power to do more. No need anyway, I don't see myself ever pushing it that far. It's only 400lbs...the thing is libel to take off. Once I upgrade the springs I might get a little more brave. The stock shocks/springs are just terrible.
