Check your intake manifold for cracks. When you start it, spray some WD40 around the engine side manifold. If the idle changes, you have a bad manifold. I had to replace mine on my XF200.

Usually a little turn either way gets it going again. Since the carb has been apart and cleaned, air leaks would be the next guess. Good luck, hope you get it fixed. Bill R |

Another vote for checking for air leaks.
My brother's bike (also an XF200) has a leak around the boot at the carb which causes a rough idle.

easy way to check for air leaks; unlit propane torch direct it at various parts of the intake, if the idle increases there is a leak there.

Still sounds like an air leak. If you wiggle the boot going to the carb or wiggle the carb, does it smooth out? With the bike running, spray some WD-40 or carb cleaner around the airbox, boot and carb. If the RPMs go up, you have a leak.

ok, to make a very long story short found an old guy who can fix any thing from a clock to a rocket to take a look and well 3 hours and 50 rides later finally got it close...was a combo of air fuel/old fuel/and we had to drill out slow jet atleast 2 sizes up but she runs...not sure how this all got started but its done...we also looked at valves and he liked them, bike better run awhile now because i got a little bad taste in my mouth over this....

Weird, considering it was running fine. I wonder how he drilled out the slow jet? The main jet is usually around a #58 drill bit, and the smallest I've ever seen is a #60 (which is 0.040"). A slow jet is about 1/4 of that size.

A little info i have found, if this is a 230cc engine like the Gio X31 has, it's quite possible the slow jet is too small. I had to use a #40 slow jet to get a proper idle mixture even with the bike totally stock.
If you have to turn the idle screw out more than 2 turns, your slow jet is too small. I'm assuming you have wa PZ30 china carburetor, if you decide to change the slow jet, the jet number you need is N424-26, a #40 should do the trick. |
