allsportsride on ebay?
Hello China Riders,
I'm currently looking into getting a new Lifan when I go back to America again, but don't want a repeat of the fake Lifan I bought several years ago which died at 800 miles. Is this bike on ebay worth $1800 delivered? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/200-c...item4ab49d1692 It looks like a bigger version of the same single cylinder Lifan 125 I have here in China. I'm just scared of the TMS label, because the last Lifan I bought was also a TMS. His low ebay feedback is also a concern. Anyone heard of this seller before? |

I don't know anything about that dealer, Bigpaws. However, I think $1,800 is a high price for that motorcycle. At that price I would certainly encourage you to check the market for a good deal on a used, Japanese motorcycle.

Stay away. That model was poorly built.

I've gotta agree on both points.
I think I may be the only current CR member who's owned one of these streetbike derivatives and I can attest it was very poorly constructed :? . The engine was good, a 230cc OHV but the rest of the bike fell apart in the worst way. The plastics and the fit and finish and especially the electrics were all nightmares. Performance was it was not much better on the street than a regeared 200cc CB enduro style machine. It's handling in particular was a problem, especially in left turns where the sidestand would drag at modest lean angles. The same occured in right turns but the muffler dragged.

Thanks, folks. I'll keep looking. I want to ride my bikes, not spend all the time fixing stuff, or dealing with poor build quality. It's too bad that I can't just ship my Lifan 125 back. It's been very reliable after the first couple break-in issues, and gets about 85 MPG. Can't meet DOT regulations, though...so no way to ship it.
@spud, nice one...I already have a Yamaha XV-250...just got it running properly again the last time I was back in the US. I'll be riding that until I find something else. |
