April showers bring May flowers, and muddy Rats.

I could not leave on my trip today due to weather. So I had the day off and it was raining. You all know I can't sit around the house like a normal person so I took The Dirt Rat out to play in the mud. We looked for the BRP everywhere and did not find it. You can see some wildflowers blooming in one of the pics.

It is great to ride and clear one's thoughts.

I am so blessed to have all these trails literally a block away.

It's nice to ride a long time and not have to trailer the bike anywhere.

I'm totally not used to wet dirt and sand. It actually helps traction in the soft stuff but makes the rocks more slippery. There is one climb that is usually quite hard but do-able for me that gave the Dirt Rat and I fits today. I got stuck/bounced off course 3 times on the ascent but as usual, The Dirt Rat prevailed.

What "old" model did Honda make the bike "DS"? I guess the question should be what was the last year they made the "XL"? Was there an "XR" Model that was ever street legal? I grew up riding Honda's Started on a Honda Z50 - Then moved up and raced and XR75. I too love the old honda's they were and probably still are super reliable. Great Pics Doc....

I think it was '82 when Honda first started calling XL's differently; for example, they went from XL250S to XL250R. Somewhere in the mid-nineties, they changed all models to XR, but used the suffix L (instead of R) to denote DS.

I think that the XR"L" series ended in 2006. Spud has an XR650L.

The only remaining XR-L is the 650, AFAIK. The XR's are now called CR-F's. I don't know how different there are if at all, but I don't think any are street legal.

There was an 1983 XR 250-L for sale on CL here last night for $800 but it appears to be sold already.

Honda still manufactures the XR230L, and the XR650L, gentlemen. Honda is selling the overstocked, 2009 XR650L model in the United States. However, I hear Honda is selling the 2011 XR650L in Canada.
