As per request to keep you all updated: UPDATE
Hello all I was the lucky person to receive the lifan lf200gy off of BrianW on here. I was in no particular rush to get the bike running but I finished adjusting the valves and purchased a new cdi for the bike, today is the first day I've had it running a handful of times and I believe the problem Brian experienced was the motocycle jumping time. Now that is not a professional oppinion of coarse just some college kid hearing a rough running Lifan with a couple back fires here and there. As i stated in the title I was just giving you all an update as was requested in the for sale ad. Now if only I knew how to set timing lol.

I believe it is an OHC engine. You would have a chain from the crank to the cam. Then an cam chain tensioner next to the starter.
Weld would know how to get the timing setup. |

Just curious, is the battery fully charged? I know the Q Link bikes don't run worth a darn if they have a dead battery... A shot in the dark

As long as the marks line up between the cam gear and the head (with the timing dot at the top), the timing is correct. Make sure the cam chain tension is set up properly. That's it for mechanical timing, and it would only be suspect if someone had removed the cam gear at some point.
After that, there is a potential for a pickup timing problem, but it's not very likely. My guess is that any problems lie elsewhere.

It is possible the pick up coil is defective or possibly loose. It is under the stator cover. Held in with two small screws.
