2022 Hawk question
If I have the front wheel firmly between my legs, how much play should there be (left to right) with the handlebars? And if there's too much, how would you fix it?

Depends on the play. A video showing it would be a huge help.

I did a similar test before I put a fork brace on, and they do have some springy feeling twist, but mine didn't really have play, as in slop in it.

I agree with all the above! A thought start from the top and work your way down making sure all the bolts are tight. Handle bars then fork clamps then axle nut tighten to spec. If any unusual slop think steering neck bearings and grab the handle bars by the tube not the grips. The throttle might throw you off because it will have some slop. My thoughts…
