Gearingcommander.com is still working. The RPS Hawk is on there for sure, and you can alter the tire sizes and other parameters as needed.

I'm running a 17/43 combo at the moment, with a 128 link chain. I was hoping to find a front sprocket to gear down quickly for a trail weekend, without having to change the rear sprocket or chain. Any suggestions? Looks like a 13 front might be ideal ratio wise, but would i need to change the chain if i ran that?

Well, what I am trying to achieve is keeping the 17/43 combo 90% of the time, as I like it for the road and most casual off road.
What I want is to gear as low as possible for the occasional weekend I may be doing some heavier off road riding. And I'd like to just swap the front sprocket, and keep the rear and not change anything with the chain. I was wondering if the 13 would fit that bill or if I have to stick with something with a higher tooth count. |

don't know if the bikes wheel/chain tension range could accommodate a 4 tooth shift without altering the chain length.

Right now as it sits with the 17/43, I probably still have about 1 1/2 of room at the adjustors to bump the rear wheel out. It might be tight, but I think it would tension up ok.
It would be awesome to have both worlds. I really really like the 17/43 combo for the street and some off road, but would be cool to gear down really heavy for trips with minimal road riding (like camping weekends) where I know over 55 isn't important. Make it a crawling beast with excellent torque. |

Front sprockets are relatively cheap. 13t might be the limit of adjustment but if its to much a 14t isn't going to break the bank.
