Are Chinese 250cc scooters dead???
Hey, y'all.
I was looking at all the usual sites online (in my quest to get a dual sport or a scooter). I see TONS of 150's, but not very many 250's at all. Years ago, they were everywhere you looked! Just wondering what happened to them?

My guess is they broke down too many times; at least much more than the 150s. It seems that the EPA/DOT gives out certificates like water for 50 and 150 scooters, so emissions might have something to do with it, too.

I'm kind of leaning more towards a scooter this time around...at least for today...changes daily...hahaha.
I think this is cool: https://amigomotorsports.com/index.p...150cc-scooter/ Anyone have any info to share regarding the Amigo brand? There was a time when a scooter this big wouldn't be caught without a 250 powering it. A good deal on an engine would fix this scooter good! Hmmmm....I'm thinking, I'm thinking... More research to follow....

Maybe a Linhai 250 if you can find one.
Personally, I would get a Chinese 250 over one of the 200 wannabees. A low cost alternative is a used Kymco (Taiwanese) 250. They were pretty tough. (Kymco and the others make 300cc scoots now).

Someone just did a review of their Amigo on the 'Reviews' section. Like many US scooter brands, it seems they spec out Znen scooters and slap their name on them; and that is not a bad thing as far as Chinese scooters go. Znen seems to be a good manufacturer.

I am kind of partial to Kymco's since we still have the Vitality 50 2T... Thanks!

Here is the thread about the Amigo--the engine would be the same across the board.

Hey olds_cool63 !
It's me - Amigo Jax guy. Just got my 150 a few months ago. You can see my rundown in the review, I'm really happy so far with it. I used to ride a Kawasaki 250 dual sport; in comparison the Amigo doesn't feel under-powered at all (but I stay off highways.) The Amigo even accelerates from a dead stop much better; I find it's a real safety feature in busy traffic. If you're buying it online, oh man - please for the love of God, country and beer don't buy from the family of companies owned by Veloz. I got burned pretty bad by them as did lots of other customers. They just take your money, ship nothing, give crazy excuses and then ghost you. These companies are : superiorpowersports, and killermotorsports.com - maybe some others. (Anybody with lots of aliases has gotta be sketchy!) Had a great experience with these guys - https://www.bobcatsmotorsports.com/ . Price was a little higher but well worth it. That is Executive Limited looks pretty sweet! |

Yeah..cool review...glad I checked it out. Appreciate the info. Thanks for the heads up on those companies. I bought my Tank sportbike online...but that was so looong ago. Not sure who to trust. I really like Executive...so, who knows? May find it's way in the garage soon!
