Rhino 250 backfires and sputters more than 1/2 throttle
My rhino sat for a few months (3 or 4) and now when I give it more than half throttle it sputters and backfires like crazy. I’m thinking the carb is dirty? Other than that is there something else I should be looking for? I drained the fuel and replaced with fresh 93 octane with no change.
As far as the carb is concerned, it sounds like they’re sealed. Would spraying carb cleaner in the throat help? Sorry for simple questions, I don’t have much small engine experience. |

Do you have the choke all the way off? Running it on half choke will have those results.

if you have untreated ethanol fuel in the tank after a few months, aka warming thru summer and now cooling, condensation with form in the fuel tank, and that condensation with bind with the ethanol and make for some serious runability issues, as water does not tend to want to burn. i would try putting a splash of K100 in the tank, and let it idle for a half hr or so, work the K100 thru the fuel system and see if that helps. i have used it for the exhact issues you are having and it solved it for me....

If the spark plug is OK you'll have to clean out the carb. Simple job but the float bowl screws will need to be slotted to do it. A Dremmel tool with a cutoff wheel works well.

I finally had time to play around with it again. It ended up being a loose wire to the coil. I pinched the connector and slid it back on and the quad runs fine now.
