FINALLY it's coming.
Finally, after waiting over 2 years for this bike to become available for sale in the U.S.A., it looks like it will happen before the end of this calendar year.
I'm currently on the waiting list and will be one of the early purchasers. The size, the horsepower, the fuel mileage, the suspension, the instrumentation, the quality features, the forks & swingarm and performance really hit all the features I'm looking for in a smaller bike. The really impressive feature is the very reasonable selling price and the three year warranty. I've sold all my current motorcycles, so I'm bikeless. No riding until the G310GS arrives. |

Not only the intake and exhaust locations are smart, but I love that they tilted the cylinder back instead of forward so they could shift the whole crankcase and transmission up and also tuck the cooling system up out of the way more. Very simple and elegant way to help centralize mass. Still a heavier bike than I would like given the power it has, but it's probably going to have a good torque curve to it. 34hp is just about adequate for this size of bike to be useable in all situations, and it's got over 7 inches of suspension travel, so it definitely has the credentials to possibly handle more serious trails. I think BMW has a winner if they have the price below $6000.

Funny thing is, Honda did this on my Goldwing 42 years ago, but they never really did this on any other bikes. Manufacturers seemed to only do it on specific bikes and never bothered applying it to more models until recent years.

Underseat tank on current Honda
The current Honda NC700X has it's fuel tank under the seat. And I believe other Honda models using the same power train also have their fuel tank under the seat. I just recently sold my 2012 NC700X.

exhaust just looks so much cleaner. no going forward then around frame the around engine and back to the back of the engine anyway.

Yes, that is very important. And a good reason to buy a water-cooled bike. However, with an aircooled bike, I prefer exhaust out the front for the reasons stated. Even cooler is to have both ports facing out the front, like on the 350cc Mustang. That was a very lively little beastie...ARH

I agree about the rear leaning cylinder on any bike. Down-draft intake tract (relative to the intake valve) has been a cylinder filling advantage since the early fifties...ARH
