First ride in YEARS! Still grinning
A friend came over for dinner last night and he was asking about my progress on the DS200, we began discussing bikes and riding and he asked me when was the last time I had been for a ride. I struggled to come up with an answer, and then slowly realized it had been probably close to 10 years since I had ridden any motorized 2 wheeled vehicle. He smiled, and tossed me the keys to his bobber and held my kids as I took it for a quick spin around the neighborhood. Best therapy I have ever had. Here's a pic of his 94 Virago 535 with my Son on it. I just had to share with someone! Have a great afternoon everyone!

I'm glad you went for a ride! Thanks for sharing the nice story, and the great photograph.

Awesome! Buy him a root beer.
That is a nice bobber; I like the forward controls. The young man on it looks right at home.

Thanks guys. The Yamaha belonged to my friend's father, who bought it new in '94 then passed it down to him about 4 years ago. He has done a lot of work on it and due to the current green paint, we have dubbed it "The Grasshopper". I don't know if the fwd controls were factory, or a mod, I will ask. The young man is my oldest boy Nick, he actually went on his first motorcycle ride last weekend when my Father-in-law took him for a spin on the tank of his BMW 650GS. I'm not sure if I can post video of the ride on here, but I'll at least put some pics of his right-of-passage up after dinner

You are wise to start him riding young.

Thanks Zing! I will pass along the compliment. He has poured a lot of blood and sweat into this bike. The bars are a bit too far forward to be comfortable for me, but the owner has long arms, he actually wants to replace them with baby apes soon. That bike gets a lot of looks wherever it goes.
As promised, here are some pics of my son going for his first ride with Grandpa on the GS650. They stayed in the parking lot of my apartment complex and I don't think he ever got out of first gear, but they both had a blast. I took video, but it was too large to email to myself, I will try and transfer it to my computer via cable and see if I can upload it.
