Better late than never
Will be 50 in April and just bought my first motorcycle. Guess this is my middle age crazy toy. Got it from killermotorsports in Texas since I live in Texas but its being shipped from CA. Which makes me wonder if it is actually being shipped from scooterdepot. Who knows.
It's an Ice Bear 250cc Bobber replica made by (I think) IceBear. Ice Bear? Seriously, who thinks these names up. I will be taking a three day training course in the near future. I hope Im not making a mistake. And I hope all the horror stories I heard about Chinese bikes are just egsajuration. I hope to gain some knowledge here about motorcycles in general and my Chinese bike in detail. |

Welcome! You're closer to the average age around here than you might think.
I'm with you on the weird names; at least it's not the "Cool Boy". I'd love to see pics of your new bobber when it arrives.

Welcome to these forums. We are glad you joined us, Gonzo!
You are very wise to take the motorcycle rider training course. Practice the physical skills and the mental techniques taught during this course, and you will be a much safer rider. You came to the right place to learn about your chinabike. I don't know much about your Ice Bear 250cc Bobber, but I'm sure you will receive lots of support from the knowledgeable members in our Street Forum. Spud

X2 on the photographs, Gonzo. We love viewing photographs of motorcycles, expecially in their native habitats!

OK thanks guys.
I will post photos ASAP. Funny part is that killermotorsports advertises 1 day delivery to me since we are both in TX but when they called me they said 10 days. Hmmmm. OK so 3 days processing time and 7 days delivery from CA instead of TX. Not very promissing. Seems like they are just middle men for a business in CA and their shipping advertisements do not jive with reality. Think ebay LOL. But I dont want to start a gripe session right off the bat. Will give them the benefit of doubt. Wish me luck. At this time all I know is that I owe almost $3000 on my CC LOL! On the bright side they were waaaay cheaper than scooterdepot. |

We had one other member with a similar bike, and it was called a Dong Fang. He has since sold it, but I thought it was a sweet bike.

Yep, quite likely. Plenty of blue Loctite is in order as well. Also, don't start the engine with the "oil" that's in it; drain it and put your favourite 10W40 or 15W40 in.

Please keep us updated regarding you motorcycle rider training class. I used to teach this class for the state of Idaho. This class is excellent, and I would like to hear your impressions regarding your experiences in class.

Well now that Im broke and in debt I bought a used helmet today. It's got the DOT sticker on the back of it but says in the liner "for daytime use only".
What is the difference between a daytime use and night time use helmet? Seems silly to me. |
