For the guys that can't quit riding dirt bikes after the snow falls. I bet those bikes feel light after when they get the wheels back on. Some snow pictures from tonight for you guys down south. If it was colder that would be a blizzard. It's pretty late for the first snow fall an it is supposed to keep snowing until Wednesday.

The Timbersled... look it up a Youtube because it needs more power than the Hawk can give. It was made for the big bikes.

I'm almost 59 years old and only seen snow here maybe 5 times and out of those 5 times it only snowed two times enough to stay on the ground. The last time it snowed here was about 25 years ago 2 days before Christmas. They had a cold front come through with a lot of rain and when the front actually got here the temperature dropped to 17* and froze the water on the ground and iced up every road and bridge around here. Then came the 4 inches of snow on top of that. The temperature didn't get above freezing for 4 days. It completely shut down the roads and highways for days. It sure was pretty but was glad to see it go away. We are just not prepared for that kind of stuff. Sure could of used one of those timber sleds back then.

Hertz, I was thinking about the power issue with the snow involved. Have been on a few backcountry snowmobile tours in Colorado and lake tahoe ca.(crazy exhausting fun). Really would take a full on 450mx bike to strap it on. Not sure if the clutch would last. Really would need one of those variable belt drive setups.
South texas Christmas eve miracle https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004_C...s_winter_storm I had 12 inches or better , it was a blowing heavy snow storm just like up north. That was the last time. Probably will never happen again in my life

LOL, Oh at my age they have been used. I do manage to keep in shape. All this means is I need to go ride more often. But on a side note. It is a miracle that I am even able to ride again. Just a little over 16 years ago I had ruptured a disc in my back which had paralyzed me form the waste down for about a month. After surgery I went through 5 months of therapy just to be able to walk again. I spent the next 2 years going to the gym and therapy to get back in shape so I could start doing things I use to do. Before the accident I did a lot of racing, if it had a motor on it I would be figuring ways to make it go faster. I've raced cars, trucks, boats, dirt bikes and had a 83 Honda 200x that was a blast to ride. I just recently parted with it after many years of fun I had on it. So to be doing what I have been doing on the Hawk is a blessing to me. Funny thing happen this past weekend. There was a young guy ( mid 20's) was following us on the trails on a dirt bike. He had a hard time keeping up with us. We had made it back to the parking lot and he had pull up about two spot over from us. He walked up and told me man you must ride a lot. I had a hard time keeping up. You should of seen the look on his face when I pulled the helmet off. He wasn't expecting an old man. I think my 15 year old daughter through him off. Not sure what he was riding as it was de-badged. Look like a Suzuki dr125. Defiantly a 2 stroke.

Fuel Gauge Problem Solved
I posted a while back that I had changed my sending unit on my Hawk because it was not working right or should I say worked when it wanted to. Friday after work I had gone in my shed to take some measurements for a center stand I am planning on fabricating. I had cranked the engine up just to let it run. I noticed the fuel gauge was pegged out pass full and I knew I had only a half tank. I thought I had this fixed. If I pulled up on the tank the gauge would work. I found the real problem. As you can see from the picture someone from the factory had assembled the rubber mount upside down. I didn't know it was wrong until I saw a few pictures of other tanks. Apparently these tanks have to be completely isolated from the frame and can not be grounded. I flipped the rubber mount so that it is between the tank and frame and resolved the issue. It may be something to check if you are having the same problem.
I fell sick over the weekend so I didn't get anything I wanted to do or did I get to ride. It was a cold wet weekend.
