The Hunter and Meteor 350 are nice, but be prepared for modded Hawk 250 top speeds. They only make a hair over 20hp.

My local-ish BMW/RE dealer in St Louis is having a nice sale on new 2023 REs.
OTD prices:
350 Classic, $4000
350 Hunter, $3800
411 Scram, $4000
411 Himalayan, $4000
Int 650, $5000

https://www.gatewaybmw.com/inventory/new/Royal-Enfield/

This year is devoted to paying off my two credit cards, otherwise I'd snap something up.

True, but higher torque values should help with hills. So overall, 65 mph should be a good cruising speed for them.

Still a much better option then the Navi or grom so there is that. The Dapper Grey Hunter starts at $5300 and the Meteor starts at $6800. The Scram 411 is around $6750. However the one major disadvantage of the closest dealer being 2.5 hours away is that it isnt as easy to just look at them in person and figure out which one i actually fit comfortably on. But all of them have gotta be bigger physically then the Navi and i fit on that one alright being 6'2.

Indeed. The 350 RE motor is all about the useful torque. Heck, all their motors are designed with that in mind. Maximum usefulness for the size, not maximum performance.

I just try to point that out for people because many people have the wrong idea of what the capabilities of those bikes are. The same thing was true with the original Himalayan too, and for a short time the used market was full of those things because people expected more from the than they were capable of.

The Hunter 350 is a little on the small side for me, but not uncomfortable at all for 6'4'' tall me. I would definitely get one of those over a Grom or Navi, for sure.

$5k for an INT650 is a great deal too. If they had that deal at my local dealer while I was getting my Shotgun, I probably would have bought an Interceptor.

There are likely ways to mitigate some of it such as risers or a dirtbike high rise handle bar.

My concern also. I'm only 6' (probably 5'11" now) but I'm still about 240 wet. I'd have to take one of the 350's for a ride before making any decision. It needs to capably haul my lard up steep roads.

True....looks like I'm grinding over the next few months to save up about 6-7K then making a 2.5 hr road trip next summer to see what i can find.

Likewise. I have essentially decided I'm done messing with used bikes for the time being save for getting an old CB or XS. What i like about the Hunter and Meteor is they remind me a fair bit of both bikes really. Probably why i am drawn to them tbh.

It's been an interesting ride with getting these parts in. I got in my fender extender, and sump guard a couple of days ago.

I ordered a flyscreen for it at the same time as those items, but the seller never once updated the shipping info, so I had to open a ticket and wait until yesterday to file to get a refund. In that time I found another seller with the same flyscreen for less than half the price, and it took 3 days for it to end up in the states and will be delivered some time next week, hopefully Tuesday. It pays to shop around.

This is the flyscreen, if curious. https://www.ebay.com/itm/196367240040

I also did run across a set of cheaper saddle bag stays for the Super Meteor that I think will suit my needs for my Shotgun. It only mounts to two points - the top shock bolt and a hole on the passenger peg/muffler mount bracket. They can only mount to the outside of the frame for the shock mount, which does make them stick out a little wider than I would like, but the mount locations are also not very square and need a little influencing, so I can tweak them to work.

I went ahead and ordered the first set of saddle bags I looked at in post 31. A little smaller than the other set, but their being water resistant is a little more appealing than the textile ones if my bike has to sit in some rain while parked at work. Again, it pays to shop around. These bags were $110 on Amazon, and $65 on ebay, from the same company.

The Bags https://www.ebay.com/itm/116083639223

I went ahead and ordered a set of the compact engine guards as well. That sorta rounds out my upgrades and accessories for now until he aftermarket can get an exhaust for it. Eventually I want to get a tail bag for trips, but there is no hurry for that. The same company that makes the bag I ordered makes this bag that I am considering. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...GM9K7GWGH&th=1

I really like this one, but it is also the most expensive. It does also have a lot of nice features to it

Other than that A waterproof roll top duffle of some kind as another possibility.

I just watched Tucker Carlson's latest video on how Amazon removes the seller's "buy box" when they charge less at another site like eBay. I was rather disgusted. My guess is there is some kinda revolution amongst Amazon sellers going on right now. Also, something like 50% or more of the sellers on Amazon are Chinese owned businesses. Quite possible mass exodus of US based companies from Amazon.
