Do you have the plastic spacer/isolator that goes between the carb and manifold pipe?

That should be it as long is it is the correct opening size. The spacer with o ring goes o ring side to manifold pipe. So it will be carb with o ring to flat side of plastic spacer, o ring side of plastic spacer to manifold pipe and then manifold pipe and paper gasket to the intake port. Be very careful with the bolts holding the manifold pipe to the engine, very soft metal, ask me how I know. LOL If by some chance you do strip out these bolts all you need to do is go to your local ACE Hardware or any quality hardware store and get the same size bolts a quarter inch longer.

All in all it seems to run strong just needs a little tlc. I need to find a new seat and tires. Was thinking of getting a slightly wider tire but not sure what all is out there to fit it. |

Are you running the engine without an air filter? Are you sure the fuel tank is not binding the throttle cable up when you reinstall it? The beveled edge of the throttle slide is towards the rear of the carb? You have enough slack in the throttle cable to allow the slide to drop all the way down the carb throat?

It appears the slide can drop down/close farther but there doesn't seem to be enough slack even with the thumb throttle disconnected. This is a new carb the PO put on and maybe the depth of the sleeve bore is slightly longer. I modified the carb end of the cable enough to get it to set down to what I believe is closed. Now once i get the spacer I can put everything back together.

The slide does look as though it could go down further in the throat, is there a cable adjuster under the boot on the carb cap? You only need maybe another 1/4-3/8" of inner cable for it to close. If the PO changed the carb, that may also be a part of your problem; the carb that usually comes on this size quad is the PZ19-style carb, which uses a choke cable instead of a manual choke. Here is the link to a typical PZ19 carb.

Trimmed off a little more...all fixed. I also found that without the intake spacer, the bowl hits the bottom of the intake tube where it attaches to the cyl head and wasn't sitting flush against the intake tube when bolted...hence the leak.

Carb
YES I have found that before the bottom of the carb bowl hits the intake pipe not letting it seat to the intake pipe... usually the carb drain line outlet hits ... have to watch the clearance on this... I guess you did not notice that before ... as I think you did not mention NO SPACER AS WELL... you need the spacer..
