One thing I will say about the TT250 is it has no real vices. It's a simple bike, well put-together, and you don't need to do much with it out of the box. It's ready to go. If you run it on the road a lot you might want to switch to 17/47 gearing, but it's not strictly necessary.
I'd recommend them in a heartbeat. |

Yep, especially those of us here in CA with few choices, it's a smokin' deal and nicely put together unit.

Sounds like it. Just wish the conversion rate did not mess up things so badly lol If we were closer to being on par like we were a couple years ago then it would not be as bad. Oh well i may just consider a route i toyed around with before again. And that would be transplanting a TT250 engine and wiring into my XL185. Gain all the advantages of the newer more powerful engine in a classic chassis.

I'm pretty sure the XL185 and TT250 both have around 16HP. You will probably gain some low end grunt with the TT250 engine though.
If I still had my 1981 Honda XL185S I would be looking for a XL/XR 200 engine. You won't get electric start but the case is not as wide. It would be a bolt in replacement and not require foot peg, lever and frame modifications.

Not sure exactly what the current conversation rate is but I paid $3000 CND shipped to my door with hand guards, skid plate, rack & top box included. Remember to add $1000 dealer bullshit and $1000 Canadian taxes to the Honda. Canadian OTD price ends up being a lot higher then US OTD price so keep that in mind. If you compare true prices I'm sure you'll realize the TT250 ends up being half the price of the Honda cuz it was around a third the price of my CB500XA.
