RIMROCK LAKE! The BEAUTIFUL Washington Cascade Mountains!
I can't believe what a good time we had! :P
My friend (and bike shop owner/ QLink dealer) Andy took me up to his cabin on Rimrock Lake for a couple of days of amazing dual sport riding. This was honestly the best dual sport ride I'd ever had. The trails were great, so were the roads, food, cabin, hospitality, and fellowship. We rode about 110 miles, about 90% off road, and about 90% of that singletrack. Much of the singletrack was pretty technical with drop-offs, cliffs, steep inclines, trees, roots, rocks, water crossings, all the good stuff! The vistas were spectactuar, but somewhat diminished by smoke from wildfires burning in Oregon and Washington. I even have pics of a wildfire, and the aerial operation that put it out. The second day the smokle was mostly gone. We rode between 4,000 and 8,000 feet, and Q NEVER missed a beat! We saw elk, deer, eagles, hawks, snakes, wild turkeys, chukkar, pheasant, and all sorts of wildlife. At one point Andy (an expert level rider) chased down and almost 'caught' a deer! The mighty Q on the mountain: One of countless beautiful vistas: A little bit of the brief road we road on. It was cloudy this morning but cleared up beautifully. Temps I think averaged in the mid 80's at this altitude. At home they hovered around 100: One of many waterfalls: A Happy Camper: White Pass Ski Lodge, shrouded in clouds: A happy guy on Rimrock Lake: A Sikorsky SkyCrane helicopter scooping up water for the nearby fire: Q and Andy's KLX250. That's a GREAT bike! Doc and Andy: Doc: Andy: Where are we, Andy? An easier section of trail. Some of the technical singletrack had me close to my limit, but I never fell or tipped over. Almost a bunch of times... You can see the snowcapped mountains in the haze: I hope you enjoyed! I thought about you guys a lot!

A big beautiful meadow:
Race Face A firefighting airplane: I was in Heaven. I was TOTALLY into the ride and the situation, lost all track of time. I could do this over and over! This is a great sign. ONLY motorcycles! A really good friend. Thanks Andy!

BTW the sign says 'Easiest'. Well it sure was NOT easy. I'd not be able to ride on anything much harder than this, and even Andy says he's have a tough time on an 'Expert' if this was an 'Easy'. 8O

Thank you for posting the great photos, Doc! I am glad your soul was refreshed by the beautiful mountain scenery.
I hope you are getting close to a full recovery from your accident; I still remember you in my prayers. Spud

Stew, there is alot of single track stuff at Nickelmine, but there's also miles of FSR's that we spend time on. Your bike would be right at home.
Wanna try for next year?

You were buzzing around in my part of the country. I was at Trout Lodge that weekend (east of Rimrock) eating.... I'm doing my riding up on Snoqualmie Pass.
