bike imports

hi, as a new member, i was interested to read about a crated LF200GY that could be purchased, and delivered to your door for five hundred pounds, which sounded like a excellent buy for a winter hack. could anybody shed some light on this matter with some advice many thanks.

i have a lf200gy5 i got it shipped for about 1300 bux.. aka 600 pounds or so..

it is freaking sweet! there are a bunch of members here that have them, we all love them, you just have to make sure to go over it with a fine tooth comb before you ride it loctite all the bolts, adjust everything, check the carb etc.. but otherwise its a great bang for the buck.

Welcome, smash. There are a few British members here, but only member CZowner seems to be posting lately. (I am not complaining, only stating a fact, Jonathan). I think the Hongdous that are advertised on the UK Ebay are what you might be seeking. It seems that since England is physically smaller, one can get a bike shipped for a very good price. The sellers on your Ebay I have seen, if I remember correctly, will register and insure the bike, too.

However, I would suggest to hear from a few British members first before jumping into buying the first and cheapest bike that comes along.

Go to 'Home' here and link to Jetmoto link, and join the group I set up last year, Jetmotogroup on Yahoo! Groups. There were a few British members who joined the group, including CZowner, and you might get some responses there, too. I have 2 or 3 dealers from Great Britain in the 'links' area, too. Do a little research, and you should come out happy.

Again, welcome.

smash, I forgot about this dealer on ebay:

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/CHINESE-BIKE-IMPORTS

(Hongdou is one of Lifan's brands...Lifan was sued by Honda a while back because the name and logo of Hongdou were too close to Honda, but somehow, Lifan is still selling under the Hongdou name in the UK)

Where abouts in the UK are you? Here in the North East we have a good dealer in Gateshead. Here are a couple of pointers, if possible talk to the seller face to face an make sure the parts back up is there. My fingers have been well burnt, I have a bike with a unique engine and no parts supply.

For those who can remember my plight I have some nylon bar and am going to make some solid inserts for the crush drive.

Jonathan.
