How long to expect stock TBR7 rear tire to last ?
I will be needing to replace my rear tire on my TBR7 pretty soon due to it being nearly worn down to the indicator strips. These bikes come with more if a 50/50 tread, rather than Knobby, so I am surprised that it's worn so bad . The bike is showing almost 3,500 on the stock odometer, which would be about 2,500 miles. I thought that they were supposed to be good for a lot more miles. How long do most of these type rear tires normally last under normal use ?

These cheap tires aren't known for their longevity. 4 to 6k miles sounds about right for a rear.

Mine is not quite down to the indicator strips, but I figure by the time it reads 4,000 on the odometer, it will be. The thing is the odometer registers in kilometers per hour.

They don't even register In KMH. The reality is, they are just calibrated poorly for MPH readouts. The whole kilometers thing is a BS old wives tale that won't die.

On my TBR7, the odometer is so far off, that it is closer to KPH, than MPH. The odd thing is the stock speed O is nearly correct, and GPS actually shows about 56, and 57 when the actual speed O reads 55. That's why, when I found a good deal on a very slightly used Zanella cluster, and speed sensor, I used it on my Hawk. It read faster than my actual GPS verified speed when sat to a 21" front, but now it reads pretty darn close after I sat it for a 19"

I suspect it was a minimal effort conversion to "American" units.

My stock tires on the TT250 were due for a change by 5k miles. The tires look pretty identical to mine, and they were noticeably squared off more like a car tire. Once I changed them, the leaning and low speed maneuvers dramatically improved, although it took awhile to get used to how it's supposed to feel again.

3rd year, several thousand miles on mine, but admit these knobby tires will soon be racing-slicks.

This looks identical to what mine looked like. I started to look up average mileage, is this normal, etc, until I finally took a step back and thought "that looks like crap, and I'm riding on nearly a 90deg angle of rubber at full lean". At that point I replaced them because I did not feel safe doing anything than a slow straight line. |

Just for comparison sake. About 4k miles on my Shinko 700's and I am fairly sure the rear will last about another 6 to. 8k miles, and the fronts will probably dry rot before ever being worn out.
