14 years later..
Hello all.
According to the "Welcome", my last visit to this site was April 22, 2008. Unbelievable. I still have the Lifan GY200-5 Dual Sport that I purchased back in 2008. It sits in one corner of my garage, covered, unused. It now has 1,989 (km?), and yesterday was the first time that I hooked a battery up and started it in probably two or more years. Started easily, and ran / idled as well as it ever did. I'm just trying to figure out what I should do with it. It is of course still in excellent condition cosmetically except for some surface rust on the spoke nipples (not sure why rust showed up there, my garage is heated?) I have a title, and it was last licensed for the road in 2009. Should I try to sell it, or keep it? I'd like to see someone else enjoy it instead of just taking up space in the garage. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks all. J - West Virginia, USA. |

I'm kind of a "long termer" when it comes to motorcycles. I also have a 1976 Suzuki GT500 that I bought in 1986 when I was in high school. I used to ride both bikes but life, kids, etc. all took their place over the last few years.
If I was going to sell it, what do you think it may be worth? I'm not sure that is what I want to do, but I'd like to see someone use it. |

Welcome Back! I'm sure there would be some interested here on the forum. At least most of these members know what to expect with what they are buying.

Bruce. I agree on the value and tire thing; part of the reason I've kept it I guess. I live in the mountains, so we get snow here, but I'm kind of a fair weather biker now. I grew up in Canada and remember riding with my friend on a GS400 on snowy roads though.
Question... the bike needs a battery. What is the proper size / specification? I know it had a sealed battery but it is long gone. |

I agree with Bruces, Ride it. I'm the same way with my Hawk. Even though I don't ride it as much as I used too, It's always fun to go take it out ever nice in a while on the trails. I don't think I'll ever get rid of the hawk no matter how much I ride or don't ride it.

We finally got cold weather and snow here in KC. I was not riding very often this fall. I started it this weekend, and it instantly popped to life in the garage with half choke.
The fact that I can't ride it now without the front wheel, and it's so cold might make me want to ride it more! You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone! Well, not available anyway! I will get the new Shinko 524 mounted when I get the new tube later this week. I might just have to bundle up and try a snow test this weekend! Slipping around |

Not a bad idea, and can be done...even as an attachment to swap out in Jan/Feb/march for some Winter escapades!
Anything is possible-this one is ~$500 kit from Ali Express. I like the side mounted disk brake on the top drive shaft over the tread: Check THIS out: |
