If you have the time, I'd love to hear about prepping the carb for a turbo. I'm inspired by your build, so I bought Maximum Boost by Corky Bell to learn more about turbo systems.

Its fairly basic to prepare a carb for blow throughturbo. Its a matter of running a line from your intake side of turbo to your bowl to equalize it otherwise the boost pressure will be higher that atmospheric pressure approx 14.6-14.7 ( 1 bar) and wont allow the suction affect ( for want of a better word) to draw fuel from your bowl past your needle into your intake. Some times u may need to block off the bowl breather on the intake side of your carb as it can cause over fueling problems when u pressurize your bowl fuel can come out of this vent and by pass your needle. This is a very basic explanation of how to prepare a carb for blow through turbo. U will need to ensure no boost pressure leaks from your bowl by zip tying top throttle rubber and adding a sealant to your bowl gasket also. Then its just down to tune

U also need to look at your compression ratio on your motor. Lucky the zongshen is around 8.5 ish so very low. This means thats theres less chance of premature ignition. As fuel ,when pressurized in your cylinder creates heat if this heat exceeds 237 degrees (think thats the temp) it will prematurely ignite before your piston reaches tdc. This in turn can damage pistons and conrods and result in catastrophic internal damage. So if u have a higher compression motor u need to reduce it to allow more room for fuel and air mixure lowering the temp in which this mix reaches before ignition.
Sorry hope this makes sense. Any questions please ask away |

I read online that you can take a pressure line from the outlet side of the turbo and plumb it into the vent tube on the carb to pressurize the bowl as boost is created. Did I misunderstand that?

Yes this is correct. Just make sure u put clips on the tube to ensure it doesnt leak. U also need to block the pressure vent hole on the intake mouth of your carb

Sorry all for the lack of updates upgraded phone and forgot to transfer my link
Alot has happened, upgraded carb, got fuel pressure regulator and pump mounted, made a prototype forward shifter, started building a springer wheelie bar and some tidying up work Here is the progress hope u enjoy |

I'm rather new to this forum, and saw this for the first time! Great machine, and great thread! I'd love to see it in action! Any idea of how many horsepower?
Sadly your pictures didn't come through due some forum problems or changes and I REALLY want to see them. There's more info on how to make it work here: http://chinariders.net/showthread.php?t=27400 Or you can link to some other hosting site. We definitely want to see! |

Try putting the pics somewhere else and posting the link, that way you can also have higher quality pictures.
Also, what did you use for the rear differential, or is it a solid all the way through? |
