I use this bike for street purposes. It'll rarely be off-road. Would I be better off getting:

I would just keep the stock carb for now as the 20 pilot will be good for your current setup. 110 will put you close where you need to be for the cold weather. Depending on the thickness of the washer, 1 or 2 will shim it about right. I have 2 thin washers and idle mixture screw 1 1/2 turns out and runs perfect. I'm at sea level so this might be deferent if you at higher elevations. You can upgrade the carb when you do the other mods.

I am literally holding the stock carb pilot jet in my hand from my 2017 Hawk. Hard as heck to read, but it says 40 for the size markings. It also matches the orifice size for a Keihin 40 pilot jet.
Now, the Mikuni carb most people buy comes with a 20 pilot jet (mikuni 20 size), and it is too small. That is likely where you saw people mention the 27.5 or 30. From my own experience, at my 1000ft elevation, the Mikuni 25 pilot was still a hair lean, but still within the "good" spectrum. The 30 was just too big, and the 27.5 is a tiny bit rich, but does not carbon foul the plug. There has been people at sea level who found the 30 to work, but the 25 and 27.5 are likely to be the ticket for most bikes For anybody new to carbs, jet sizes are not created equal. A 100 Mikuni and a 100 Keihin jet are actually sized differently. It is important to differentiate the two.

Jerryhawk I'm in Toledo Ohio. We're slightly above sea level but not by much. I'd say our set ups would probably match each other's. I'm gonna shim it when I get home and see how she feels about it lol

Who knows. Another mystery for the ages. I had to use a magnifier to read mine, but it says 40. Either my stamping was messed up, or they may be using jets from 2 sources

I have a stock exhaust and stock air box. I have 110 main with a 20 pilot. I have the shim on full rich an the screw to 2 turns out. My hawk runs and starts great. I know that I should be in the middle and not so turned out on the screw but it is running great. This is with the $30 Fakuni and Amazon whatever size main (110). I might just pick up another $30 and keep this set up in case I totally screw it up.
