Hawk sprockets for street
I am probably going to be using my Hawk 95% on street what is the best street sprocket setup? Right now I have a 17t front I wasn't sure about the rear. ( I have no hills on my commute to work or most my joy rides)

Weight of rider seems like it matters. Most popular is 17/45 but that would not work well for me.

17t-39 if you weigh less than 180 pounds over I say 17t-42t.

17t - 43t (over a 42t) or a 17t - 39t combo will save some excess ware on the chain and sprockets (if your chain has even number of links)

The 17-45 combo is very common swap for the Hawks. I have it on mine and it just about the perfect setup for the road. If you go too low of a rear sprocket the motor won't have enough horsepower to move it along at the higher speeds with enough torque and the motor will be lugging... The 17/45 combo requires the removal of two links on the chain. I would very highly recommend just ordering a good chain when you replace the sprockets. The chains on these bikes from the factory stretch a lot. Also important info would be to make sure you have a not cheap set of snap ring pliers. The rear snap ring on the back wheel to change the hub is super strong and almost impossible to remove without a good set. A final recommendation would be to use a little loctite on the rear bolts when reinstalling (which you should do on every single bolt on these bikes.

Haha yeah I notice a few bolts got a bit loose, I been trying to get them all with loctide the removable kind. Can you you please send me a link for the rear 45 sprocket?

I have a 45 rear now and am thinking the 42t may be better for me https://www.amazon.com/JT-Sprockets-.../dp/B0068O5N5Y |

What are some of y'all's weights sprocket size and top end speed at? New to the hawk haven't bought one yet 55mph top is definitely a deal breaker

I been like maybe 55ish tops stock but it's very very torque but once I change sprocket that I have already 17t and 45t from what I hear it can hit 65+ but don't quote me on that. To me this is just a good commute/fun bike around town and off-roading no highway.

So my chain seems to be really really tight and I have no leeway to get it any looser with my 17t front sprocket, is that normal with the 17t 50t combo?

Running 17t with stock rear. Chain is not too tight. How many miles does you have on it? 235lbs runs 60mph easily except hills of course.

My chain was too tight to run 17 with the stock 50 rear, I run a 17/45 now. It cruises well at 50 but tops out less than 60 right now with everything stock.

Odd
If you are topping out at 60 with taller gears then you obviously have not gotten the carb and valves set properly. I am running stock gearing and i can push 70+. I would get the carb and valves set properly before doing any more gearing. i bet you are running way too lean. Does it buck at high rpm?
