I also used an angle grinder, but a hacksaw works well too....just file the edges smooth after cutting them off.

for those following along, rumor has it that installing tusk handlebar risers (30mm) helps the barkbuster backbones clear the dash better - unfortunately no photos were posted. For those of you who have installed wrap around hand guards and handlebar risers, do you find you have better access to your aux power ports (assuming you have that upgrade also installed)

Because of the design of the RX3 handlebars, one can also merely mount bushings/spacers between the triple tree and the lower handlebar mount.

Yes, having the Tusk bar riser and wrap around hand guards does give more clearance for your power ports, though the lighter plug could still be an issue due to most lighter plugs are big and bulky...no trouble at all on the USB side..

This is my set up.
I had purchased this set up for a Royal Enfield Bullet 350 I had for a short time (long story) and they fit well and of course I kept them when I returned the bike to the dealer. Had to do some adjustments and have some spacers made by my Machinist friend Juan at Dollar Engineering.
I used G2 Ergonomics Competition Handguards ( http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...ion-handguards ) with MSR D-Flector Shields ( http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...lector-shields ). They look big and I guess they are but seem to function well, I have noticed they help deflect a lot of rain from my hands and leather gloves. For some reason fitting the guard rail to the RX3 don't go as well as the R.E., the end bolt seemed just a bit short here and i couldn't get them to tighten up without contacting the rubber grip and interfering with the throttle. Juan wasn't happy with the idea of castrating the throttle and break levers so we came up with the spacers. I felt the bar end securing bolt and lock assembly could slide inside the bar if (when) I drop it and that this might jam the throttle, so I had him make the spacer with a shoulder that sits on the bar end like a washer thus preventing the assembly form being forced into the bar. It looks a bit clunky in the photos but in real life and practice seems ok.

Thanks for posting photos of your hand guards, Robin. How much clearance do you have with the windshield when the handlebars are fully locked in either direction?

Well darn Spud... I didn't know there would be a test after my post or I'd have read chapter seven first... all the answers are in chapter seven... I don't know but they don't hit or have any interference, maybe I can get a picture of them at full lock.
