7 wire CDI...229CC 250 ATV JIANSHE-YAMAHA
I'm thinking about putting in one of those "performance" CDIs but as I look at my CDI I notice it has 7 wires!! I guess I'll be leaving out a wire or so??? Any input would be great!!!! And are the performance CDIs worth it??? Thanks Matt

Stock:
--- Which "performance" CDi? That "thingy" (loss in translation) on rotor is longer in Yamaha than (c)Honda http://www.motorfans.com.cn/bbs/t_379262.htm The advance degree are TOTAL different !!! There's report by jamming "old" Suzi GS125 (that "thingy" is shorter) TCI on Yammie & worked. There's "programmable" TCI (as above url) if u really want to try. The newest edition had English interface. === http://www.motorfans.com.cn/bbs/t_461706_5.htm #81 tells the truth

Wowwww!!!! I didn't follow any of that!!!! (I'll have to read it a few times to understand what it means in 'laymans' terms!!!) Lol!!!! But that wiring diagram is dead on!!! Thanks for that!!! Seeing as I have no diagrams for this quad!!!! I was talking about one of those Blue colored aluminium CDIs that are on EBay for around $15 bucks!! I assumed it does 'whatever' automatically... Ok read it a few more times (as best as I could with Google Translate! ) kinda following it... |

Terminal size of that fleabay = 2.8mmm http://www.sanxin.com.cn/Exhibit/exhview.asp?pid=5
JS250 stock CDI connector's model #: DJ7032-2.3-21 | DJ7042-2.2-11 --- If test result OK, crimp [2.3 to 2.8] jumpers & heat shrink-ed it as http://www.rx3adventure.com/rx3_comp...agnostics.html

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Motor...381074934.html (from AliExpress Android) Are you saying this would be the one I should use instead of the one from Fleabay?? And couldn't I just get the plugs that would fit that CDI and wire those in?? Thanks Matt!! |

I am talking terminal's size ONLY. I don't recommend ANY CDI in that thread. The plastic housing is more difficult to get BUT "terminal" are pretty universal. That RX3 page gives a clear idea.
Build the jumper wire as whatever on stock CDI DJ621-2.3 (outer) x3 | DJ612-2.2-0.6 (inner) x4 2.8 (outer) CG (square connector) / Horizontal (5 pin) | 2.3 (outer) GY6 (round connector ie. as most Honda) OR cut & solder here & there...
