Fun project. If I remember right the rear shock is pretty soft on those.

how funny, I'm going to look at one of those in the morning. If it runs good I plan on bringing it home with me.

Does this look familiar? Yamaha quit making the XT225 and now Honda is making a street version of their CRF230... ~4,400 bucks...

That XL looks to be in pretty good shape. Are you going to put a Lifan in it?
Getting ready for that dualsport ride? Allen

Yea, that'll be my DS rider. Doubt I'll be riding my club's DS event at the enduro, gonna be pretty busy working the event. The charity DS ride in the spring, I hope to ride.
Might try to fix the motor in it, fix one of my XR2 motors, shoehorn a BSA 500 motor, drop a Lifan in it, up in the air right now. |

Personally, knowing now what I do, I think that the Lifan GY-5 makes for a better bike, price being taken into account, and you can buy close to 3 of them for one of these.

My only problem is the weight. At 267lbs, that Honda is way overweight. Thats about 25bs heavier than my XR400!
Just as there is a foot for every shoe, there is a butt for every cycle seat. |

It's nothing new! The CRF230 is the same bike that has been available for a number of years from Honda. They just made it streetlegal, that's all! This bike can easily be made streetlegal here where I live but why when you can get a chinabike almost the same size much cheaper? The much wiser way to spend that much is on a new Suzuki DR650. The DR650 can be purchased new for $4500.
