hi-bird question
just acquired a 2006 150cc hi-bird atv for my daughter, what manufacture would it be a knock off of? honda yamaha etc? she seems to like it it (so far) runs good starts easy and stops. it has NO BALLS at all but other than that for the $ its not bad. anyway im sure itll need something b 4 long, i need to know what to relate it to so i dont look like a dumb ass at the parts counter. thanks in advance. oh anyone know or have any experience with hi-birds good bad ?

You won't find much at the local parts counter. If you show us a close-up pic of the motor, we can likely guide you towards parts, etc.

You have a pushrod hondoid style engine. Most common.
To help with the power issue I suggest changing the counter shaft sprocket to one with less teeth. Looks like you have a 14T now. Try a 12T.

That's the same motor my quad has, and it's based on the Honda CG125, which was never distributed in NA. It is a really solid design, where the cam runs right off of the crank with a gear, rather than a chain. Search fro CG200 on eBay, and you'll find lots of stuff for it.
Set the valves, and see if it wakes up a bit. Here's a tutorial: http://hondacg125.awardspace.com/valve_clearance.htm I bought a 30mm Mikuni carb (and changed the jets) and a free-flowing aftermarket muffler, and mine woke up a bit.

saweeet, thanks for the info its very much appreciated now i hope i can get some b--s out of it lol. ok whats your opinion on the bike (quad) pros cons etc so far the only con would be its got no hole shot power top end is ok but takin off lol no. i wasnt expecting it to blast right out the gate but geez. i hope changin the sprocket from 14 to 12 helps im going to do the valves as soon as i get off this computer. ill let yoou know the results thanks again

You will lose some top end if you change the sprocket, but most times that is not a big deal.

I haven't done a sprocket change, and I can wheelie my 200 (even with my XL carcass on it). The answer will be in the valves, air filter, exhaust, Mikuni carb and proper jets. Much guidance available here.

How much hp difference is there between the 150 and 200cc? About 2-3hp?

Not sure. I haven't seen a CG150 in real life; only the 200 and the 230.
