Anyone know where or what this wire is???
Hey Im Ace, I just got a 2007 GY-5. The front sticker had to go. ha anyway, so I am definately a Newbie when it comes to being on two wheels, but ill be honest with you... The bike has been together for a day and a half and have put 35 miles on it. LOL I dont have tags yet so of course thats all in the yard. Anyway on to the important question. The bike is fully functional and everything but there is a spare wire i just cant figure out. It is located underneath the Headlight. It is a wire about 6 inches or so long with an extremely flat fitting on the end with a hole in the center. Does anyone know what this is? I think it may go to that optional Alarm or Something but im not sure... Thanks For your Help. :P
O and has anyone elses bike come stock with the MPH Speedometer? I was totally surprised when i noticed it on mine. [/b] |

Sounds like the one that is attached to on of the headlight brackets. Is it black?

Yeah, that's a diode. Most people say the silver tab is a ground, but I think it's actually a heat sink as diodes only have 2 connections. Look at the symbol on the side of the housing, it looks like an arrow pointing to a sideways "T", if you look on any basic electronics site you'll find the same symbol.
It dosn't hurt anything just to zip tie the thing out of the way. |

does it do anything, mine was loose, and i had it off and it made no difference, also, the metal piece wound up getting pulled out of the plastic/rubber piece...

Ace,
It does not attach to anything, it is a diode/keep's your lights from eating themselves at RPM's, at least that was the way it was explained to me when I was Newbie and asked the same question... Welcome...
