Update- After a few hill climbs where i did not have a good running start I decide i needed to change my gearing. The 17/45 combo was great with the stock tires but with the larger tires not so great.
I had my original stock 56 tooth rear sprocket and a new Tsubaki chain (thanks to Spud) the stock 134 link length i had ordered a while back. I put those on since i already had them, as it turns out i can still get up to 55 with the 17/56 combo at about 8500 rpm. So for now, taking into consideration that i do not spend much time on the road, I'm just going to stick with the 17/56. I think something in between the 45 and 56 would be ideal on the rear or maybe just dropping the front to a 16 or 15 with the 45 rear as Knothead had suggested.
