New to this forum

Hello!

I've been reading many posts here in the last few weeks, lot's of good information.

I'm pretty new to 4 wheel ATV's, but do have a Honda Z50 Mini-Trail that's been in the family since new in '71.

It all started when I bought a garage sale Roketa quad for $70 for my kids. All the wiring was in a spaghetti bowl on one of the foot wells. Being a cheapskate I found the schematic for CDI ignition systems and made my own harness for it. It's not as pretty as I'd like it, but it's safe and fully functional! Came to find out on that deal that the motor is a 152FMH (110cc?) could be why they tore up all the wiring and gave up when they got lost.

That ATV proved to be so much fun (albeit tiny) that I decided to buy a mid-size ATV for myself. I ended up buying a Hanma ATV-88 from ATV discounter in my favorite color scheme of Yellow with Black trim. Here's the URL to the place it shipped from with pictures, http://www.atvtown.com/atv-26r.htm (they're also known as Seaseng and KMD powersports). The ID tag on the front of the unit actually identifies it as a Haili Icebear 110cc.

So far only mods to the new mid-size have been to add a digital bicycle speedometer, a new Walmart AGM battery (original battery cranked slow), and I shortened the shift lever to be more reasonably positioned to prevent accidental shifts. The gears are only F-N-R so a full length shifter or a foot shifter wasn't necessary.

That's about it for my first foray into the Chinese ATV world. So far has been a pretty good experience considering the price. I did have to re-ziptie some wiring on the new one because the wiring was tied up way too tight. This caused the ignition coil primary plugs to become loose which caused the motor to stall out when revving up past quarter to half throttle due to vibration loosening the connection even further. All is good now though!

Mark
