X Pro Templar Carbs choke sticking?

So today I finished out my last initial hour of riding. I noticed the bike kept dying at stop lights. Once I got back home I noticed a puddle of gas under the bike. What I finally realize is the bottom bowls longer hose would dump fuel for about 5-6 seconds at a time then stop and then continue.

When I pulled everything off the bike the choke cable appeared to at an angle going into the threaded sleeve at the carb. I suspect the choke wasn’t fully closing but I was wondering if anyone else had these issues?

If this is common should I just put a choke directly on the carb and be done with it or should I just buy a Mikuni Carb?

Thank you again everyone for your help! This sites been invaluable.
