Boom Vader Cam Timing

Hm. I have a newer boom Vader. It has 1500 miles on it. Overdue for a valve check and adjustment. Noticed the cam was off during that, had to adjust by cam marking not magneto marking.

It..rides fine.

Curiosity got the better of me, I reset it back to TDC.

It rides different. My carb settings are off with the cam in properly. Top end became very rich. Went down from 118 to 112 on my 26 Nibbi. It's riding more normal but not sure if as good as when the cam is off.

Are the cams supposed to be off?
