2020 Polar Bear

Another one in the books, almost fifty miles today. Weather was sunny and just below freezing when I left.

What used to be a 12 mile ride to the donut shop is now 36 miles. I swear, I was as cold today as I was in 2018 when it was -10F.

I had one scare on the ride up to Country Donuts. Garfield Rd is a short and pretty gravel road between two arterials. The thing has taken a beating this winter and was damn rough. Near the end of the road it was glare ice and I went into a skid. I managed to get straight and stopped just before I hit the ditch. My shorts are still clean, though.

This was probably my next to last ride to Country Donuts. The owner is retiring on Dec. 31 and moving to Colorado. We have known each other for almost 40 years. 36 miles isn't too far to see a friend but it's quite a hike for a donut.
