Still sounds like a vacuum like to me so before I disassemble my bike again Ill check for leaks. My mind says vacuum leak but my intuition says valves.
I just put a little snippet on Hawk Talk about adjusting valves. I hope it helps you. I agree with your statement. I too would make sure the valve clearances were spot on, then, if that doesn't resolve the problem - explore further....ARH
