New Beak
It probably wouldn't bother most, but I like parts to fit together properly.
So I ordered a new beak because the plastic hole where the screw goes was stripped. The screw secures the front edge of the tank panel, and the panel stays in place just fine without the screw. I don't know exactly when it happened...you know it must be my fault... New beak: But when I installed the new beak, the mounting hole was ~ 1/2" from lining up with the body panel. So I still don't have a screw in the front of the body panel. I think I have traced the problem back to the fuel tank. If the fuel tank is mounted just a bit off center, the panel doesn't fit flush against the tank, and the hole doesn't line up. The other possibility is that the pieces of the body panel (panel is made of multiple pieces) is misaligned. The next time the tank is removed, I will try to persuade the panel to go into place. I don't know why this misalignment irked me, because the tank panel bolts that mount from the inside don't line up either... I've long since left them off, with no ill effects. jb
