Improve brake light intensity?

Has anyone noticed that the RX3's brake light isn't much brighter than the tail light? The tail light could be brighter too, but I really like my brake lights to pop.

I first noticed this when I was following DanKearney on our ride a couple of weeks back. I could barely tell when he was braking because the transition is a blink-and-you-miss-it microsecond and the brake light isn't bright enough to convince you it's not just the tail light.

Does anyone know a way to bump up the brightness of the brake light? Like maybe a resistor we can remove or change out?
