alarm/remote start works... to an extent...

I have a 2013 taotao paladin 150cc. I bought an alarm for it and it simply plugs in using the 9 pin connector. The alarm works perfectly, but when attempting to remote start, the dash indicators come on, the brake light is activated for a few seconds and that's it. It doesn't turn over, but I hear clicks from the alarm module indicating each step, including turning over the engine, which it doesn't do. The scooter runs perfectly fine. After pressing the remote start and power is supplied to the scooter, I can start the scooter manually without the key. If anyone has any ideas as to how to get the alarm to work correctly, it would be greatly appreciated.
