Adios, Buddy
My 1952 Ford F2 left home today after 17 years. My daughter and son in law are the new owners. Between 1994 and 2001, I moved my oldest to and from college in Ashland, WI(I live in E. Dundee, IL, almost 400 miles away) four times, helped haul away ten cord worth of trees blown down in the neighborhood by a micro burst in 1997, hauled half a 52 Chevy 3100 to a few swap meets and took home a few trophies, too. Ugly as sin but never once let me down.
215 six cylinder OHV engine, dual Holley 1904 carbs, Offy intake, Clifford headers and a few other magic touches. Just about 170hp at the rear wheels. Slapped a few flatties around in the late 90s. In late 2001, I stared to do some major rust repair and began to swap out the original 4.86:1 rear axle to a Dana 70 with 3.54:1 gears. As luck would have it, I got "PROMOTED". The so called promotion cost me about 95% of my free time. The worked stopped in early 2002 and never resumed. I had a bit of a hollow feeling when I watched Jake and his Dad haul it away. Mrs. C actually shed some tears. Gonna miss it. On the plus side, it is staying within the family and I'll probably have to teach Jake to double clutch and deal with the dual point ignition. And I get my garage back after ten years. http://www.flickr.com/photos/2149929...7627379709410/
